Planning is underway and if you are keen to receive updated information or want to input your own Great ideas into this thrilling event, please contact us. We will be able to let you know the best possible prices for travel and accommodation before the end of 1996. Pass this information around your friends, keep a photocopy for yourself.

Register now and make sure you'll be in Auckland for the Festival in February 1997.

Accomodation: There is plenty of nice green grassy camping space at the Festival site and we encourage people to camp onsite. Campervans and housetrucks are welcome too. There is also a small Marae where jugglers can sleep on the floor (there are a few mattresses available). There is not much accommodation available near the site but we have negotiated special prices at a couple of backpackers in Central Auckland which is about 5km away from the Festival site. Local buses are available. Mention the Juggling Festival when you book a bed and you will receive a discount. We advise booking backpackers in advance as this is the busy season.

Please note: Thursday 6th February is Waitangi Day, however, the next day (Friday) is a normal school day. As such, we must remain off the school site all day Friday until 5.00pm. Not a problem as we will all be on the Parade and at the Juggling Olympics anyhow!! It also means that nobody can sleep at the school on Thursday night. But, we have arranged alternative accommodation (marae-style) at a nearby community centre. Buses should be able to park up here too. Therefore, we ask you all to co-operate with the organisers on this one, and not set up tents until Friday 7th after 5.00pm.

Backpackers in Auckland are:

What is a juggling convention: This will be a coming together of jugglers and related circus performers and hobby enthusiasts from around New Zealand and the Rest of the World. For four days people will be throwing and catching balls, clubs, rings, fire. There will be acrobatics, balance, diabolo, devil stix, poi, stilt walking, unicycling, balloonology ... the list goes on.

Bring your imagination, a sense of fun and a hunger to learn new things and a desire to meet new and interesting people.

At the Festival site there will be free Marae-style accommodation (sleeping on the floor!), a cafeteria with wholesome, yummy reasonably priced food, a bar, stalls selling juggling props and clothing.

You will help to make this the best party Auckland has ever seen. You will leave your mark on New Zealand's largest city.

Something about Auckland: Situated on an isthmus between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea, Auckland is built on extinct volcanic cones - taking juggling to new heights. Summertime temperatures (i.e. February) are pleasantly warm.

The city is well placed for visits to marine reserves, thermal pools, surf beaches, the Far North and the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Auckland has an excellent museum, great art galleries, cafes, etc. Come and have the holiday of a lifetime in rugged, wild, warm and friendly New Zealand. We will help with information for this region and the rest of New Zealand.
