Dell'Arte isn't a circus school per se, but it is the only full-time school of physical theatre in North America. It's located about 15 miles east of Arcata, CA in Blue Lake, a small logging town with nothing but the school and a bar. Students come from all over the world, average student body is 15 - 30 people.
It's a school of physical styles, so there is a fair emphasis on circus arts such as acrobatics, juggling, etc., but the main focus is on work in mask, clown, mime, melodrama, farce, and commedia dell'arte. There is a resident company who produce and tour.

The San Francisco School of Circus Arts offers a unique opportunity to experience and train in a variety of circus art forms. The school offers classes for both children and adults. The children's program is designed to share the joy of circus in a cooperative and supportive atmosphere, building self-esteem and personal discipline. The adult program is designed to be exciting, interesting and challenging regardless of your previous experience. In addition, the school offers intensive, arranged classes for aspiring or established performers. Please call for current classes and registration information.
Classes and other opportunities available at the school have in the past included circus day camps, lots of classes for children, and lots of skills workshops -- juggling, Chinese acrobatics, aerial skills, clowning, etc.
We have two facilities: one is located at 400 Missouri St. (at 19th Street) on Potrero Hill, the other is located at 755 Frederick St. (across from Kezar Stadium) in the Haight.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College is an 8 week course that takes place each summer. This year we will return to Sarasota and hold the session in the Sarasota Opera House. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey has it's own site on America Online. Check it out.
Pricilla Mooseburger offers a yearly school in August in Minnesota. At present it is held near Annandale Minnesota one hour west of Minneapolis. Past instructors have come from Pickle Family Circus, Big Apple Clown Care Unit, and Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey, and of course, carpets all over the country. This class has produced the Triton Trouper Circus for the last 25 years. The class starts in Jan and the Circus is the weekend before Good Friday. Triton College is located in River Grove, Illinois.
The class includes instruction in: Super Minitramp, Perch Pole, Rolling Globe, Tumbling, Teaderboard, Russian Swing, Unicycle, Web Rope, Wire, Magic, Vaulting, Cradle, Double Trap, Man Wheel, Juggling, Double stunts, Clowns, and many other topics.
