Juggling in Movies
Children of Paradise (1945)
[Pierre Brasseur, Pierre Renoir, Maria Casarès, Gaston Modot]
France. Original title: Les enfants du paradis. This film usually appears in every list of the top five films ever made. The protagonist is a mime, but don't hold it against him. He works at the Funambules in Paris. It seems that at some stage a century or two ago, theatre was made illegal in Paris. To get around this, theatre shows were performed on a tightrope, since circus and vaudeville weren't illegal.
There's a fair bit of peripheral juggling and various other circus skills in this amazing film. A bit of this can be seen in this trailer.
