The son of the sheik and a dancing girl fall in love, but when he is
made to believe she has betrayed him he seeks revenge.
While staying in New York during the promotion for the film's wider
release, Valentino collapsed and was hospitalized for a perforated
ulcer and peritonitis, leading to his untimely death on August 23,
1926. The film went into general nationwide release just 13 days later,
on September 5, 1926.
The opening title screen shows the release date incorrectly as 1937
(MCMXXXVII), instead of the correct 1926 (MCMXXVI).
At 22:30, a
3 ball juggler
is seen for 6 seconds in the background, marching in a parade. 5 seconds
later he is seen again in the foreground for 2 seconds. Just over a
minute later, he is seen juggling again in the background for 9 seconds.
